BusyLady Quilt Shop

Busy Lady Quilt Shop was established in 2011 by Jennifer Carter - the shop started out small and quickly grew into a community!

The original location was a old yellow house on Main Street in Mt. Washington.

The shop outgrew that space and is now located on Delania Dr.

Meet our teachers:

  Kelly Pruitt
I have been quilting for almost 30 years and I really don't have a favorite type of quilt. I may be making a traditional quilt one day and the next it might be an art quilt. I am just as happy doing machine applique as I am doing hand applique. I like teaching quilting as much as I like taking classes. I think there is always something new to learn. Quilting is my addiction and you will find me in my sewing room (quilt studio) almost every day.

When I was eight years old my great-grandmother taught me to knit.  From that point on I was hooked on the needle arts.  My paternal grandmother was the quilter in the family.  Although she didn’t teach me to quilt I was weekly exposed to her quilting skills.  She was a master quilter.  I made my first quilt top when I was seventeen.  It was a Home Ec project. (machine applique).  My grandmother quilted it for me.  My second quilt was made for my daughter  after she was born.  I continued to enjoy quilting when time allowed while raising my children and working.  In 2003 it was decided that it wasn’t necessary for me to work any longer, that’s when quilting became my passion.    My educational background is Elementary Education.   I have always loved to teach.  This love has extended to the quilt world and I have been teaching quilting since 2006.

I have sewn all my life and took my first quilting class in 1994 and was definitely hooked.  I love all aspects of quilting to include traditional as well as modern.  With every quilt I make I gain more knowledge and I love to share that with everyone who has the same passion for quilting.  I enjoy taking classes whenever I can - I always learn something new.
